A heartwarming story set in Civil War-era America, Little Women tells the coming-of-age story of four young girls: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March. Their father is off fighting in the War leaving their mother to raise them. The girls go on all sorts of adventures together, get into mischief, fall in and out of love, and—thanks to their failures as much as their victories—grow into the “Little Women” that their father always prayed they would become. The story is told chronologically with most of the chapters focusing on the family as a whole, but each sister gets at least one chapter of her own to explore her personal faults and how she learns to overcome them. Any young woman who reads this book is sure to see herself in at least one of the four March girls.
